Glass swooped, shaped and becomes artwork ENQUIRER STAFF REPORT Last Updated: 1:03 pm | Tuesday, November 14, 2006 You don't have to be a rocket scientist to enjoy Joseph Drury's work - but just for the record, rocket scientists do like it. Drury, an artist from Fort Thomas, recently had one of his pieces of glass artwork bought by a NASA astrophysicist to be displayed at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. The work, called "Dark Matter," will be on display at the center where scientists research dark matter. That is matter that does not emit or reflect enough electromagnetic radiation to be detected directly but whose presence might be inferred from its gravitational effects on visible matter. Glass sculpture is Joseph Drury's specialty. He has a studio at Pendleton Art Center. As with many of his works, Drury used recycled glass to make the sculpture. "I think we should all be working toward a 100 percent environmentally sustainable world in our art and in our lives," Drury said. Drury creates many of his designs at his home and completes them at the Pendleton Art Center in Cincinnati. His art is currently showing at the 5th Street Gallery at 55 W. Fifth St. in Cincinnati.
